About Elgar - Husband and father of 3 Elgar gave up his role of 8 years working as a Telecommunications Engineer to join Emma to enable them to provide a stable environment for the children and to head up one of the two houses.
Before working as an Engineer Elgar spent 14 years in the Army and 4 years working as a youth worker on a Kibbutz in Israel.
Since becoming a Childminder Elgar has gained the NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development and has attended several training courses run by the Early Years Department.
We are a husband and wife team working with 2 assistants to enable us to care for
12 children under 8 everyday. Our assistants are registered with Ofsted, CRB checked
and hold recognised childcare qualifications.
About Emma - Wife, mother of 2 and manager of Pipkin’s after 8 years working as a
legal secretary for an international law firm decided to change career and set up
as a childminder. The key drive for this change was a desire to provide a childcare
option that exceeds expectations, meets the needs of busy working parents and most
importantly provides the highest level of care for children.
Our eldest child attended a local nursery for some time and most of that time was
filled with disappointment and great concern, more particularly for us in terms of
high staff turnover and unhealthy menus. So after searching for the ideal childcare
solution we came to the conclusion that busy working parents in our area deserve
a high quality flexible childcare option and we wanted to provide it.
Before her career in the legal field Emma worked as a live-in nanny, for both an
American and then an English family caring for their 2 children. Whilst living in
America Emma studied at a local college and gained a Certificate in Early Childhood
Education for 0-3 year olds. Since becoming a Childminder Emma has gained the NVQ
Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development, the CACHE (Council for Awards
in Children’s Care and Education) Level 3 Diploma in Home Based Childcare and has
attended several training courses run by the Early Years Department.
